The Froebel Kindergarten Group…

“working as a ‘Native English Speaker’ in a German early childhood centre in 2010. The Froebel Kindergarten Group is introducing its centres to bilingualism in English and German. Children will hear and learn English from an educator who speaks only English, just as they learn their native language from German educator. I couldn't speak German, and the staff and children had very little English so there were a few challenges. But the children were responsive and I became skilled in non-verbal communication and guessing what was said. We all had some very rewarding learning experiences with the children's comprehension and use of English noticeably developing”.
