WORLD ORGANIZATION FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

 

OMEP is the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education and is an international non-government organisation (NGO) founded in 1948 to benefit children under eight years old. It is a non-partisan, non-sectarian NGO concerned with advocacy for young children and their families. Further, OMEP is affiliated to the United Nations, and has consultative status with UNICEF, UNESCO and the Council of Europe. OMEP has more than 64 member countries throughout the world.

The Otago Chapter of OMEP is pleased to host special guest speaker Dr. Susan Sandretto of the University of Otago

Topic: Future-focused literacies

What does it mean to be literate today? In this session we examine the Four Resources Model as a framework to think about developing a future-focussed literacy programme. Based on University of Otago research, you will be encouraged to reflect on your current practices and envisage a variety of texts and practices that you can integrate into your programme. This presentation will be relevant for both ECE and primary teachers.
